DK Davis's "Suspicious Minds" Rocks the Charts!!
DK Davis released "Suspicious Minds" on August 8, 2009
and it rocketed onto the charts!
In Europe, "Suspicious Minds" debuted at #23 on the Hot Disc chart and climbed quickly into the Top 10. It is a welcome surprise when a song charts on its very first week of release.
Here in the states, New Music Weekly Magazine reported the song on two different charts: The Country Main Chart and the Country Top 30 Independent Radio Chart. This song was spun an unprecedented amount of times for DK. Not only did"Suspicious Minds" stay on the charts for an incredible 18 weeks but it moved up every single week. By the 18th week "Suspicious Minds" was spun a grand total of 25,359 times by the reporting radio stations across America!
On the Country Top 30 Independent Radio Chart, DK's new version of "Suspicious Minds" finished at the #1 spot.
On the Country Main Chart, it finished #6 and DK shared that Top 10 spot with other heavy hitters such as: Reba McEntire, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Dierks Bently, and Darius Rucker.
DK's interpretation of "Suspicious Minds" was phenomenal and drew positive raves from both the radio dj's who spun the record and from many other people in the musicindustry.
Amazing job, DK! Congratulations!

NEW MUSIC WEEKLY MAGAZINE
DK DAVIS
HAS A #2 COUNTRY HIT
WITH
Beach Music Day
On May 16, 2006, DK Davis performed at the 2nd Annual North Carolina Beach Music Day in Raleigh, North Carolina. This fest in an all-afternoon event sponsored by The Beach Music Association International and was held on the lawn of the State Capital Building.
DK was thrilled and honored to share the stage with legends of the music industry Dee Dee Kenniebrew of The Crystals; Herbert Hardesty, who played lead saxophone on all of Fats Domino’s hits; The Orioles, “Crying in the Chapel”; and Clifford Curry, “She Shot a Hole in My Soul.” DK was also interviewed for a live on-air broadcast by radio station WNCA (AM1570). The Embers backed each act up and they did a fantastic job.
That night, there was an after party and another concert with all of the acts performing once again at The Sheraton Inn Downtown Raleigh. The ballroom was packed and the crowd rocked the night away.
It was a gorgeous day for an outdoor concert and the after party was great fun.
The night prior to the concert, as DK sat and talked to all of these performers and they were telling stories, DK called his good friend, legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame DJ, Dick Biondi who was in the middle of his oldies rock show on the new WJMK internet radio. Dick was thrilled to be able to talk to his old friends and did an impromptu on-air interview with each entertainer. Everyone had a lot of fun with this and it was great to sit and listen to them talk to Dick on the air. DK had a great time and enjoyed hanging out with and hearing these legends reminisce about “the good old days.”
DK would like to say thank you to North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and her staff for doing a wonderful job in helping BMAI to organize this event. DK would also like to say a special thank you to both Billy Scott, Chairman of BMAI and to Harry Turner, President of BMAI for putting this entire event together and for inviting DK to be a part of this incredible day of music. Below are a few other photos from this event.

New Music Weekly Award Show
Hollywood, CA
DK
Davis enjoyed a wonderful few days in Hollywood the end of June when he
attended the New Music Weekly Award show at the fabulous Key Club Theatre.
On
arriving at the theatre, DK walked the red carpet and was stopped numerous
times for TV interviews and photos.
He
was a presenter at the show along with Cerrito, who was also a fellow
nominee for “Crossover Artist of the Year 2003.” As DK came
onstage to present, his brand-new song, “Rag Top Down,” which
was released on June 25, 2004, was played. He danced across the stage
doing his trademark “DK hip-shimmy” as he sang to the song
and the crowd went WILD!! DK and Cerrito did an incredible job as they
presented two awards.
As
the grand finale to a fantastic show, DK sang in an ensemble cast to a
rousing version of “Revolution.” Included in this musical
finale were Tom and Larry Weir of New Music Weekly, Ronn Moss (“Ridge”
on the Bold and the Beautiful), Peter Beckett (lead singer for the band
“Player”), and movie star Corey Feldman. The crowd roared
as this group rocked the show to a close.

It
was an amazing few days and DK met so many people, made many new friends
and made so many great contacts that he was not even disappointed when
Tim McGraw won “Crossover Artist of the Year 2003.”
Congratulations
DK on a job WELL DONE!!!

DK Davis Hits Front Page
DK
Davis performed at the First Annual Beach Music Day in Raleigh,
NC. DK sang a heartfelt rendition of “Turn Back the
Hands of Time” as a tribute to his long-time friend, R&B
great, Tyrone Davis. Then DK went on to rock Raleigh
with his own version of “Great Balls of Fire.” His
energetic performance captivated the crowd, young and old
alike, and was showcased on CBS-affiliate RAL news broadcast
that evening along with coverage in all editions of the
News & Observer the next day. DK is quoted as
saying, “It was an honor to be a part of this wonderful
event and I would like to thank Secretary of State, Elaine
F. Marshall, Billy Scott, and Harry Turner for the invitation
to the this fantastic day of music. It was a LOT of fun!"
Rag Top Down
Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame DJ , Dick Biondi
(pictured on left), a close friend of DK's,
does a fun introduction at the beginning of “Rag
Top Down,” as if he is introducing the song on his radio
show. It is a very cool and unique way to introduce this new
song. |
| |
“Rag
Top Down” was written by Ron Moody. “Rag Top
Down” is a retro 50’s good ‘ole rock ’n’
roll song that will have America on it’s feet, dancing
and reminiscing about the sock hops and the malt shops!! The
packaging for “Rag Top Down” is also unique and
looks like a 45 rpm record. You will not want to miss out on
this CD. It is one-of-a-kind and you will want to make sure
to add it to your collection.
